There is a common thread in the south. We love to eat and share time together over good food. We have been traveling to the Smoky Mountains for over a decade and are still finding new restaurants. I wanted to share some of our favorites with you and why. Sometimes we go to dinner as a couple or sometimes we have toddlers with us. Either way there is something for everyone in Gatlinburg, Sevierville and Pigeon Forge TN.
Today I am sharing my faves in Gatlinburg TN in no particular order . Cherokee Grill ( Steakhouse). We love to go here without the kids for a moderately priced romantic dinner. The lighting is low in the evening and often a fire is going. We enjoy the selection of seafood appetizers, steaks and burgers. This has been a favorite of ours for years. Alamo (Steakhouse,Sandwiches) We recently tried out this restaurant by the Johnson Family of Restaurants. Their entire chain of restaurants are staffed with super friendly people. As you will find, you can spend an entire year eating your way through Gatlinburg. We took the 3 kids here for lunch and had a great meal and a reasonable price. We had their burgers and sandwiches, but they known for their Steaks too. No Way Jose’s Cantina (Mexican) The original Mexican joint on the strip is my favorite in Spring, Summer or Fall because of the outdoor patio that sits right beside the river. It makes for a great place to have chips, specialty drinks and a good mexican lunch. It is nice for the entire family. This is a place that you can come year after year to take pictures and create memories. Mamas Chicken Kitchen (lunch/dinner) and Joe and Pop's Sub Shoppe Another recent discovery for lunch by the Johnson Family of Restaurant chain. The location in Gatlinburg is new and clean. The service was fast and friendly. And you get 2 restaurants in one to choose from which is always great when traveling with a group! We took the entire family here and they have an outdoor seating area during the nice weather. Loco Burro (Mexican) is in the heart of Downtown Gatlinburg. I love it because of the rooftop bar and seating. It is a great place to relax and undwind as a couple. Pancake Pantry (Breakfast) Founded in 1960 is Tennessee’s first pancake specialty restaurant. They have something for everyone. 24 different varieties of pancakes, many waffles, farm fresh eggs, sizzling ham, bacon or country sausage and golden butter-fried hash brown potatoes. Peach Delight, Blueberry, Whole Wheat, Apricot Lemon... the list goes on and on. They have crepes too, one of our favorites! Smoky Mountain Brewery (Pizza) If you want pizza and beer this is the place for you. They have TV, and just a down home feel here. They are always super friendly to our little ones as well. Crocketts Breakfast Camp (Breakfast) They serve a MUST eat Cinnamon Roll that serves 2-4 people depending on your appetite. I am a Eggs Benedict lover and they make a good one!! This place never disappoints for breakfast for the entire family. And if you are a late riser, they are open until 1pm. Cliff Top Grill & Bar This is a newer restaurant in Gatlinburg. Located at the Anakeesta development overlooking Downtown Gatlinburg. This eatery offers breathtaking views of the Great Smoky Mountains. It is a nice place to grab just a drink and appetizer or an entire meal. You do have to pay to get to the top, but we spent a few hours doing the free tree canopy bridges, listening to music and browsing through the shops with the kids.
